This article discusses the evolution of the presidential figure in Mexico since Constitutional Congress of 1917 which formed a strong and powerful presidential figure, in accordance with that historical moment, passing decades of the twentieth century, in which the Chief Executive became the center and the cornerstone of our political system until the thinning and demystification of the presidential figure, from 1980 due to constitutional reforms in electoral matters and those with which the president lost political power of the Federal District. We live today a transition from a presidential system to another presidential system in which relations between the legislative and executive powers will allow articulate the terms of a consolidated democracy that offering possibilities to balance in the power relations in Mexico, whose best solution is always one that allows maximum advantage of a system and minimize resistance to their success.Este artículo aborda el tema de la evolución de la figura presidencial en México, desde el Congreso Constituyente de 1917 en el que se conformó una figura presidencial fuerte y poderosa, acorde con ese momento histórico; pasando por décadas del siglo XX, en las que el titular del Poder Ejecutivo se convirtió en el centro y el eje fundamental de nuestro sistema político; hasta llegar al adelgazamiento y desmitificación de la figura presidencial, a partir de 1980 debido a las reformas constitucionales en materia electoral y aquellas con las que el presidente perdió el poder político del Distrito Federal. Lo que vivimos hoy en día es la transición de un sistema presidencialista a otro sistema presidencial en el que las relaciones entre los órganos legislativos y ejecutivo permitirán articular los términos de una democracia consolidada que ofrezca posibilidades de equilibrar las relaciones de poder en México y cuya mejor solución será siempre aquella que permita obtener ventajas máximas de un sistema y reducir al mínimo las resistencias para su éxito.
