The work being discussed is a compilation of the prevailing special legislation on animal welfare in Chile, systematized around three stages distinguished by the purpose pursued by each regulation: "Animal Health" (1954-1992), "Animal Welfare" (1992-2009) and "Animal Protection" (2009-2016). Despite the lack of critical analysis of the provisions, it is a good first step that opens the door to new research in the emerging development of Animal Law in Chile.La obra comentada constituye una recopilación de la legislación especial sobre bienestar animal vigente en Chile, sistematizada en torno a tres etapas distinguibles por la finalidad perseguida por la regulación: “Sanidad Animal” (1954-1992), “Bienestar Animal” (1992-2009) y “Protección de los animales” (2009-2016). No obstante la falta de análisis crítico de las disposiciones, es un buen primer paso que abre la puerta a nuevas investigaciones en el incipiente desarrollo del Derecho Animal en Chile.
