Resumen: El presente trabajo examina la garantía del Estado, un mecanismo alternativo al seguro privado de obras de arte.En virtud de la garantía del Estado, cuando las instituciones reciben en préstamo obras de arte cubiertas por aquélla, es la Administración la que se encarga de indemnizar al propietario de la obra en caso de siniestro.Al existir numerosas diferencias entre los sistemas de garantía del Estado, este estudio se centra en el examen de este sistema en España y en el Reino Unido.Palabras clave: garantía del Estado, préstamo, seguro, bienes culturales.Abstract: This study deals with the Government Indemnity Scheme, an alternative to commercial insurance.In according with the Government Indemnity Scheme, when institutions borrow works of art covered by it, compensation will be paid to the lender by the Government in the event of loss or damage.As there are many differences between indemnity schemes, this study analyses the Spanish and British scheme.Key words: Government Indemnity Scheme, loan, commercial insurance, cultural property.
