Three historical events will be addressed to understand the historic-political context in which seculars and ecclesiastics had strong disputes for control and power in the New World. The exposition of these events will build a framework of analysis that will allow understanding the reasons why officials, scholars and viceroys were requested to account for the events that took place in the Indian territory regarding the administration of lands, tributes and encomiendas. In the same way, this communication, approached from three sides (Crown, Papacy and Mendicants) will be nourished by the presentation of documents issued at the time that, analyzed from a reading of the present, will provide a narrative that shows the way in which these axes maintained an active relationship between them that allowed them to make the decisions and opportunities they thought best to fulfill their interests.Se abordarán tres sucesos históricos para comprender el contexto histórico-político en el que seculares y eclesiásticos sostuvieron fuertes disputas por el control y poder en el Nuevo Mundo. La exposición de dichos acontecimientos construirá un cuadro de análisis que permita comprender los motivos por los cuales oficiales, letrados y virreyes eran solicitados para dar cuenta de los sucesos que en territorio indiano se llevaban a cabo respecto a la administración de tierras, tributos y encomiendas. De la misma manera, esta comunicación planteada desde tres aristas (Corona, Papado y Mendicantes) se verá nutrida por la presentación de documentos emitidos en la época que, analizados desde una lectura del presente, brindarán una narrativa que muestre la manera en la que estos ejes mantuvieron una relación activa entre sí que les permitió tomar las decisiones y oportunidades que mejor creyeron para cumplir con sus intereses.
