UNA DISQUISICIÓN RETROSPECTIVA Pedro Alfonso LABARIEGA VILLANUEVA * In Mexico, in spite of the fact that the commercial registry has a specific legal nature since decades ago defined by the federal legislation, it is yet not fully autonomous. In such context, the author examines the main stages in the historical evolution of such registry, with the purpose of explaining the importance of this institution. In its early stages, the emergence and operation of the commercial public registry had close links with the existence and activity of the property public registry. Subsequently, a new special law was passed, in order to control commercial registration, a circumstance that is a manifestation of the importance that this institution already had in 1885. Finally, the reform of 2000 meant a watershed in the evolution of the registry, with the introduction of computerized systems. UNA DISQUISICIÓN RETROSPECTIVA Pedro Alfonso LABARIEGA VILLANUEVA * En México, a pesar de que el registro mercantil tiene una naturaleza jurídica determinada desde hace décadas por la legislación federal, no cobra aún plena autonomía. En tal contexto, el autor configura un recorrido por las principales etapas de la evolución histórica del Registro Público de Comercio con el fin de explicar la importancia de la figura en estudio. En sus inicios, la aparición y el funcionamiento del Registro Público Mercantil tiene vínculos estrechos con la existencia y actividad del Registro Publico de la Propiedad. Posteriormente, la aparición de una ley especial para regular el registro mercantil, es manifestación de la importancia que la institución ya tenía en 1885. Finalmente, la reforma del 2000 significó un paso determinante en la evolución del registro, con la introducción de la automatización, convirtiéndose éste en un parteaguas en la transformación de dicha institución.
