Animal law has a short history. It appeared two centuries ago and was progressively extended and strengthened. However, the rules it contains can appear unsatisfactory, more focused on regulation that on protection of the animal. The real change would imply to implement a double process of dereification and constitutionalisation.El Derecho Animal es algo bastante novedoso. Apareció hace dos siglos, se expandió progresivamente hasta fortalecerse. No obstante, las reglas que contiene pueden parecen insuficientes, preocupándose más por la regulación del animal que por su protección. Un cambio consecuente implicaría efectuar un proceso de humanización y constitucionalización.
