Is the federalism the legal and political organization type of the European Union? In this article, the author offers some indispensable elements to answer this question, indicating the principles of the federalism and contrasting them with the upholder ones of the European Union, focusing on the respect of the diversity inside the unity, the general will and the interests of the governments, having as a result the conciliation between national and communitarian interests.¿Es el federalismo la forma de organización jurídico-política de la Unión Europea? El autor ofrece en este artículo algunos elementos indispensables para dar respuesta a esta interrogante, señalando los principios que dan forma al federalismo y contrastándolos con los sustentadores de la Unión Europea, centrando su atención en el respeto de la diversidad dentro de la unidad, en la voluntad general y en los intereses de los gobiernos, todo lo cual debe arrojar como resultado una conciliación entre intereses nacionales y comunitarios.
