The interpretation of legal rules, used to solve cases heard before a Judge, is a topic that has always fascinated the doctrine. However, many of the theoretical constructions that explain this aspect not only seem to be remote from the activity that real judges usually carry out in the exercise of the duties, but also use an unintelligible and superficial language that would hardly relate to the practice of Law. The objective of this essay is to clearly and accurately precise the parameters established by Private Law for the legal interpretation of the rules, emphasizing the ample faculties that Judges have, but without disregarding the limits they have to respect.La interpretación de las normas jurídicas, para ser utilizadas en la solución de los casos puestos en conocimiento del juez, es un tema que siempre ha fascinado a la doctrina. Sin embargo, muchas de las construcciones teóricas elaboradas para explicarla no sólo parecen encontrarse completamente alejadas de la actividad que realizan los jueces de carne y hueso en el día a día del ejercicio de sus labores, sino que, además, están elaboradas en un lenguaje abstruso y vaporoso que mal podría comparecerse con la práctica del Derecho. El objetivo de este ensayo es tratar de precisar de forma clara y concisa los parámetros que establece el Derecho privado para la interpretación judicial de las normas, resaltando las amplias facultades de las que disponen los jueces, pero, sin dejar de lado los límites que deben respetar.
