The reception of the accusatory system in Chile provides for sundry treatments meted out to the lawsuit parties involved. Clearly, the accused is considered not an object of prosecution but a subject having the quality of someone with inalienable rights that must be respected. It is asserted that, and this is always present in political discourse, the treatment meted out to victims has also been improved. However, such a thing is not that clear. Consequently, it seems necessary to consult about their rights recognized at a legal level in order to count on an approximate dimension of the change in treatments that are being politically furthered, and it is also necessary to analyze some characteristics of the plaintiff as a lawsuit party.La recepción del sistema procesal penal acusatorio en Chile supone un tratamiento diverso para los sujetos procesales que intervienen en él. Por supuesto, ha dejado de considerarse al imputado como un objeto de persecución penal para reconocerse su calidad de sujeto rodeado de derechos fundamentales que deben respetarse. Se afirma, y así suele oírse en el discurso político, que también mejoró el tratamiento de la víctima. Sin embargo, tal cuestión no es muy clara. En consecuencia, parece necesario consultar los derechos que se le reconocen a nivel legal, para tener una dimensión aproximada sobre aquel cambio de tratamiento que se viene afirmando políticamente y se hace necesario también, por lo mismo, analizar algunos aspectos de la figura del querellante como sujeto procesal.
