The network of federal protected areas administered by the National State, through the National Parks Administration (APN), is currently composed of two systems (or subsystems): the eminently continental system regulated by law 22,351 - Legal Regime of National Parks, Natural Monuments and National Reserves - and the marine system regulated by law 27,037 - National System of Marine Protected Areas. The present work aims to analyze both the most conspicuous administrative and legal aspects of the marine system created by law 27,037, as well as those of coastal, marine and insular protected areas that, without belonging to the system created by this law, are also totally or partially managed by the National State through the APN.La red de áreas protegidas federales administrada por el Estado Nacional, a través de la Administración de Parques Nacionales (APN), se compone actualmente de dos sistemas (o subsistemas): el sistema eminentemente “terrestre-costero” regulado por la ley 22.351 –Régimen Legal de los Parques Nacionales, Monumentos Naturales y Reservas Nacionales- y el sistema “marino” regulado por la ley 27.037 –Sistema Nacional de Áreas Marinas Protegidas. El presente trabajo tiene por objeto analizar tanto los aspectos administrativos y legales más conspicuos del sistema marino creado por la ley 27.037, como los de aquellas áreas protegidas costeras, marinas e insulares que sin pertenecer al sistema creado por esta ley son también administradas total o parcialmente por el Estado Nacional a través de la APN.
