In 2006, Peru witnessed a significant event in its political history with the direct election of its representatives to the Andean Parliament. However, the author points out that this historic event may have been overshadowed by the general lack of knowledge on the subject and by the crisis that the Andean Community is facing. In this sense, this article offers a detailed analysis of the Andean Parliament, covering its historical evolution from its antecedents to its creation, its influence within the Andean Integration System, the description of its functions, as well as its composition and structure.En el año 2006, el Perú fue testigo de un evento significativo en su historia política con la elección directa de sus representantes ante el Parlamento Andino. Sin embargo, el autor señala que este hecho histórico pudo verse opacado por el desconocimiento general sobre el tema y por la crisis que afrontaba la Comunidad Andina. En esa medida, este artículo ofrece un análisis detallado del Parlamento Andino, abarcando su evolución histórica desde sus antecedentes hasta su creación, su influencia dentro del Sistema Andino de Integración, la descripción de sus funciones, así como la composición y estructura del mismo.
