This paper intends to analyze Spanish bicameralism, starting from its constitutional design, and contrasting it with the type of majorities that an asymmetric electoral system produces in both chambers. This leads us to wonder about the theoretical coherence of an "imperfect" and poorly territorialized model with the existence of opposing parliamentary majorities in Congress and the Senate. The hypothesis of the work is based on considering this situation as a mutation of the traditional moderating character of the Senate to become a Chamber destined to counterbalance the government majority. The outcome of the general elections held on July 23, 2023, has aroused interest in this regard. Staring from the parliamentary instruments that the opposition will have at its disposal, we would like to assess the relevance of a reform that justifies such powers, based on the development of article 69.1 of Spanish Constitution (CE) from which it would be possible to claim the specific nature of the type of senatorial representation.El presente trabajo pretende analizar el bicameralismo español, partiendo de su diseño constitucional, para contrastarlo con el tipo de mayorías que un sistema electoral asimétrico produce en una y otra cámara. Ello nos lleva a preguntarnos por la coherencia teórica de un modelo «imperfecto» y escasamente territorializado con la existencia de mayorías parlamentarias opuestas en Congreso y Senado. La hipótesis del trabajo considera esta situación como una mutación del tradicional carácter moderador del Senado para convertirse en una Cámara destinada a contrapesar la mayoría gubernamental. El resultado de las elecciones generales celebradas el 23 de julio de 2023 ha despertado el interés al respecto. Partiendo de los instrumentos parlamentarios que tendrá la oposición a su alcance, nos permitimos valorar la pertinencia de una reforma que justifique tales poderes, a partir del desarrollo del artículo 69.1 Constitución Española (CE), desde el que cabría reivindicar la naturaleza específica del tipo de representación senatorial.
