In this essay, the author argues that priority should be given to this phenomenon both by public agencies and non-governmental organizations in their respective action programmes. For this reason, and to achieve the elimination of discrimination and violence against women and children, as well as respect for their dignity, their right to development and their rights of participation, it is necessary to include in the structure, contents and goals of the education system, the rights that are recognized and protected by international instruments signed by Mexico in this field, the duties derived from them, and also the constitutional instruments to guarantee them. En el presente ensayo, la autora defiende la tesis de que dicho fenómeno debe ser considerado como una prioridad de atención, tanto por organismos gubernamentales como no gubernamentales y sus respectivos proyectos de acción. Por esto, para lograr erradicar la discriminación y la violencia contra la mujer y los menores, y alcanzar el respeto a su dignidad, su derecho al desarrollo y a su participación, es necesario considerar en la estructura, contenidos y fines del sistema educativo, los derechos reconocidos y protegidos por instrumentos internacionales firmados por México en la materia, los compromisos que se asumen a través de ellos, y también los instrumentos constitucionales que los garantizan.
