The national legal historiography has drawn from different traditions and has been cultivated by several scholars, amateur and professional. And indeed, who best represented the systematic and critical study of the history legal is Manuel Salvat Monguillot. Hence, this article aspires to be a contribution to the knowledge of this master of law, by presenting an overview of his life, and the contributions of his thinking and work to the discipline of history legal in our country. At the end of this study, is presented an addendum containing the columns written by Salvat Monguillot in various print media, material with which we intend to contribute to the knowledge of the work of this scholar.; La historiografía jurídica nacional ha bebido de distintas tradiciones y ha sido cultivada por diversos estudiosos, aficionados o profesionales. Y, sin duda, quien mejor ha representado el estudio sistemático y crítico de la historia del derecho es Manuel Salvat Monguillot. De ahí que este artículo aspire a ser una contribución al conocimiento de este maestro del derecho, presentando una semblanza de su vida, así como los aportes de su pensamiento y obra a la disciplina de la historia del derecho en nuestro país. Al final del estudio, se presenta un apéndice con las columnas escritas por Salvat Monguillot, en diversos medios de prensa, material con el cual pretendemos aportar a la difusión de la obra del estudioso.

The journal Revista Chilena de Historia del Derecho have turned 50 years since its 1first publication, making it the oldest of its kind in Latin America. In such occasion, it is mandatory to present, even roughly, the life and work of one its most prolific members in Roman Law matters, Hugo Hanisch Espíndola, both as a teacher and author, whose career was crowned with the publication of Andrés Bello and his work on Roman Law.; Al cumplir la Revista Chilena de Historia del Derecho 50 años desde su primera publicación, convirtiéndola así en la más antigua de su clase en Hispanoamérica, resulta de todo interés presentar, siquiera a grandes rasgos, la vida y obra de uno sus miembros más prolíficos en materia de Derecho Romano, Hugo Hanisch Espíndola, como autor y como docente, y cuya carrera se coronó con la publicación de Andrés Bello y su obra en Derecho Romano.

Ricardo Zorraquín Becú is considered one of the greatest Latin-American historians of Legal History. The present document pretends to review some of the aspects of his life –as a professor and investigator– and his connection with the magazine “Revista del Instituto de Historia del Derecho Ricardo Levene”. In turn, we pretend to give an original but brief perspective of his relationship with Alamiro de Ávila Martel and the magazine “Revista Chilena de Historia del Derecho”.; Ricardo Zorraquín Becú es considerado uno de los historiadores del derecho latinoamericano más influyentes. El presente trabajo pretende revisar algunas de las facetas de su vida como la de docente e investigador y su vinculación con la Revista del Instituto de Historia del Derecho Ricardo Levene. A su vez, pretendemos entregar una perspectiva si bien escueta novedosa sobre su relación con Alamiro de Ávila Martel y la Revista Chilena de Historia del Derecho.

In this article the author examines the inß uence of Professor Alfonso García-Gallo in the development of the history of law in Chile, particularly in its relationship with the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile, and ath tesame time explaining the approach that this Hispanic teacher gave to the discipline.; En este artículo el autor estudia la influencia del catedrático Alfonso García-Gallo en el desarrollo de la historia del derecho en Chile, en particular en su relación con la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Chile, explicando de paso el enfoque que el maestro hispano dio a la disciplina.
