In order to know that, the jurist seeks to find the proper answers in other “orachles”, on the basis of which he or she codifies law’s mandatory rules. The jurist will not be the one who says when a living entity starts to exist. At must, what the law and the jurist can do, once the matter is solved outside the legal terrain, is to choose one of the different answers given to the question about the beginning and end of life, in order to determine the legal consequences that must govern the system of social relations. In this essay, the author explains how legal rules work with concepts provided by science, in order to determine what their legal meaning can be. Through his reflections, it is possible to realize that the law is built on the basis of other disciplines: basis of a particular deepness when one is dealing with life and death. Para saberlo, el jurista se vuelve hacia otros “oráculos” y a partir de ellos codifica sus fórmulas imperativas. No será el jurista quien diga cuándo existe un ser vivo. Lo más que el derecho y el jurista pueden hacer, una vez resuelto el tema fuera del espacio jurídico, es elegir una de las diversas respuestas sobre el inicio o fin de la vida, para traer desde ahí las consecuencias jurídicas que se deben injertar en el sistema de las relaciones sociales. En el presente ensayo, el autor explica cómo es que la norma jurídica recoge expresiones de la ciencia y luego dispone lo que puedan significar para el derecho. A través de sus reflexiones, podemos percatarnos de que el derecho está construido sobre un cimiento que otras disciplinas le suministran: cimiento de singular hondura cuando se trata la vida y la muerte.
