In this article, the author approaches the study of tolerance using Manuel García Pelayo"s framework on power relations, in order to develop his discussion within the theory of power. Subsequently, and on the basis of this conceptual framework, the author des-cribes the constitutional regime of the freedom of religion, the rights of indi-genous peoples and the rights of political minorities in Mexico. In his final thoughts, the author argues that tolerance is a requirement, at the same time, of the system of liberties, of constitutional thought and of the obser-vance of the constitutional order. El autor parte del esquema de las relaciones de poder elaborado por Manuel García Pelayo para encuadrar los problemas de la tolerancia dentro de la teoría del poder. Posterior-mente, y sobre la base de dicho esquema conceptual, el autor expone de manera suscinta cuál es el régimen jurídico-constitucional de la libertad religiosa y de las etnias indígenas así como de las minorías políticas en México. En su reflexión final, el autor argumenta que la tolerancia es a la vez requisito del sistema de libertades, del sentimiento constitucional y del cumplimiento del orden constitucional.
