The linguistic phenomenon, it is not strange to the Law. Rather, the Law and the juridical thing, it is —without doubt— a linguistic phenomenon. We will speak in the present monographic work about the word “settlement, close or quittance”, it brings over of the voice, and his terminological scopes, trying to establish his juridical nature, to end with the practical application of the same word, in the field of the Chilean Labour law.El fenómeno lingüístico no es ajeno al derecho. Más bien, el derecho y lo jurídico es —sin duda— un fenómeno lingüístico. Hablaremos en el presente artículo acerca de la voz finiquito y sus alcances terminológicos, tratando de establecer su naturaleza jurídica, para terminar con la aplicación práctica de la misma palabra en el campo del derecho laboral chileno.
