DescriptionThis text provides an introduction to the Finnish legal system and legal history. The author illustrates the hierarchical structure of the legal system in Finland and how these relate to Animal Welfare Policies. The text addresses what Finnish law mandates in situations when an animal’s welfare is compromised or endangered. The short text closes noting that as with other EU countries, Finland recognizes the sentience of non-human animals, yet juxtaposes this recognition with the current state of animal welfare, underscoring the importance of furthering public dialogue and raising awareness of this subject.en-US
DescriptionLa autora realiza una presentación de la historia y el sistema jurídico vigente en Finlandia, en relación con las actuales políticas de bienestar animal. Así, el artículo explica la aplicación del ordenamiento jurídico en Finlandia a las situaciones en las que el bienestar animal pueda verse comprometido o amenazado. El documento termina con una anotación sobre cómo Finlandia, al igual que otros países de la UE, reconoce la capacidad de sentir de los animales no humanos. Un reconocimiento que, no obstante, se enfrenta de alguna manera con la situación actual del bienestar animal en el país, para lo cual subraya la importancia de un mayor diálogo público y sensibilización sobre esta materia.es-ES
