The resolution of voluntary disputes with the help of an impartial third party without the capacity to impose a solution, does not constitute an exclusive of the western system. China is heir to a millinery tradition in the use of mediation, confirming the efficiency of a system alien to ideologies and intended to reinforce the need for satisfaction of citizens’ justice. Mexico in the last twenty years has adhered to the use of mediation. Through the comparison of both countries, this article aims to detect those points that could be of interest in order to strengthen the Mexican regulatory body in the matter.La resolución voluntaria de controversias con la ayuda de un tercero imparcial y sin capacidad para imponer una solución, no constituye un sistema exclusivo de occidente. China es heredera de una tradición milenaria en el uso de la mediación, confirmando la eficiencia de un sistema ajeno a ideologías y destinado a reforzar la necesidad de satisfacción de justicia de los ciudadanos. México en los últimos veinte años se ha adherido al empleo de la mediación, con lo que, por medio de la comparativa de ambos países, se pretende detectar aquellos puntos que podrían ser de interés al objeto de fortalecer el cuerpo normativo mexicano en la materia.
