The objective of this paper is to analyze the new relations between the Church and the Peruvian State because of the changes introduced by the 1979 Political Constitution of Peru. For this purpose, the proposal of the Doctrine of Vatican II on the relations between the Church and the State is examined, which will allow us to highlight the aspects that the Church and the States are renouncing in their interactions. The new aspects introduced by the 1979 Constitution are also examined. In this way, it is concluded that the doctrine of Vatican II is not followed in relations with the State, and that the 1979 Constitution introduces changes with respect to its predecessor, the Political Constitution of the Republic of 1933, which affect this relationship with the Church.El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar las nuevas relaciones entre la Iglesia y el Estado peruano a raíz de los cambios introducidos por la Constitución Política del Perú de 1979. Para ello, se examina la proposición de la Doctrina del Vaticano II sobre las relaciones entre la Iglesia y el Estado, lo cual permitirá destacar los aspectos a los que renuncian tanto la Iglesia como los Estados en sus interacciones. Asimismo, se analizan los nuevos aspectos introducidos por la Constitución de 1979. De este modo, se concluye que la doctrina del Vaticano II no se sigue en las relaciones con el Estado, y que la Constitución de 1979 introduce cambios con respecto a su predecesora, la Constitución Política de la República de 1933, que afectan esta relación con la iglesia.
