The previous Constitution of 1933 reflected severe limitations in resolving conflicts between state organs. Consequently, it is important to examine the modifications implemented by the new constitution. Only in this way will it be possible to evaluate to what extent the changes affected or not the dynamics between the political powers that make up the State. In this sense, this article analyzes the interrelationship between the Executive and Legislative branches in the Peruvian Constitution of 1979. After addressing the determining aspects of the subject, the author concludes by pointing out that the reforms introduced by the new Magna Carta are partial and do not contribute to an adequate system of checks and balances; which ends up affecting the balance between the political powers of the State. Therefore, it is recommended to aim for a deeper restructuring that improves the efficiency of the political system.La precedente Constitución de 1933 reflejó severas limitaciones para resolver los conflictos que se suscitaban entre los órganos estales. En consecuencia, resulta importante examinar las modificatorias implementadas por la nueva constitución. Solo de esta manera se podrá evaluar en qué medida los cambios afectaron o no la dinámica entre los poderes políticos que conforman al Estado. En ese sentido, el presente artículo analiza la interrelación entre los poderes Ejecutivo y Legislativo en la Constitución peruana de 1979. Luego de abordar los aspectos determinantes sobre el tema, el autor concluye señalando que las reformas introducidas por la nueva Carta Magna son parciales y no contribuyen con un adecuado sistema de pesos y contrapesos; lo que termina afectando el equilibrio entre los poderes políticos del Estado. Por lo tanto, se recomienda apuntar hacia una reestructuración más profunda que mejore la eficiencia del sistema político.
