This article deals with the study of telecommuting through the use of telecommunications or, better known as teleworking. Through this contribution, the author provides a comprehensive analysis of this phenomenon whose impact has been increasing in the modern world of work. To that extent, the author begins by developing the concept of telework, which is broad and can cover different definitions, however, it is understood that it can be understood as the work that is done remotely through the use of telecommunications by a person. Under that premise, the modalities of telework are also exposed, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the same for both workers and employers. The article concludes by pointing out some relevant legal aspects to be taken into account in this modality of work, such as workers' rights, social security, data protection, among others.El presente artículo aborda el estudio del trabajo a distancia a través del empleo de telecomunicaciones o, mejor conocido como, teletrabajo. Mediante este aporte, el autor proporciona un análisis integral sobre este fenómeno cuyo impacto viene siendo cada vez mayor en el mundo laboral moderno. En esa medida, el autor comienza desarrollando el concepto de teletrabajo, el cual es amplio y puede abarcar distintas definiciones, sin embargo, se entiende que el mismo se puede comprender como el trabajo que se realiza a distancia mediante el uso de las telecomunicaciones por una persona. Bajo esa premisa, también se exponen las modalidades del teletrabajo, así como las ventajas y desventajas del mismo tanto para los trabajadores como los empleadores. El artículo concluye señalando algunos aspectos jurídicos relevantes que deben tenerse en cuenta en esta modalidad de trabajo, tales como los derechos de los trabajadores, la seguridad social, la protección de datos, entre otros.
